Simpson set for Somerset debut

RallySchool.co.uk driver Tony Simpson heads to the South West of England this weekend, as he bids for 1400cc class honours on the Somerset Stages Rally, the fourth round of the popular BTRDA Silkolene F1400 Rally Championship.

Supported by the Shropshire Rally School and Mortgage Matters of Liverpool, Tony makes his first ever visit to the forest near to the rally base in the popular seaside resort of Minehead.  Liverpudlian Simpson will be driving one of the RallySchool.co.uk Volkswagen Polo 16V’s on the event as he continues his bid for honours in Class N1 of the hotly contested Championship.

Simpson and his Manx co-driver Robert Fagg will look to improve on after their recent sixth in class on the North Humberside Stages in the blue and white Polo, as Tony is eager to build on his points tally for this year.  The forests of Exmoor will be a totally new experience for ex-VW Polo Challenge competitor Tony, as he pointed out:

“It will be a totally new experience for me, as its not a part of the world that I know at all.  Nearly all my experiences of forest rallying have taken place in the North of the country, so I’m genuinely not sure what to expect in terms of the nature of the stages.  I’ve heard that they have a good flow to them and are quite varied, so I’m sure it will be a great challenge for both Rob and myself.

I’m particularly delighted to welcome Mortgage Matters of Liverpool as main title sponsor for the rest of the year, as they have shown a great interest in our plans for this season.  Its great to have additional support from RST International as well, and of course the support we receive from RallySchool.co.uk is a huge part in what we are trying to achieve this year.  Our plan for Somerset is to be as competitive as we can be and to get as many points on the board as we can in the process.”

A strong entry will make life difficult for Simpson, but the determined Scouser is keen to get the best from the RallySchool.co.uk Polo 16v on April 24th.
