Kevin Harrison will return to the Michelin Porsche Open Series at Silverstone on 15 May, 10 months after badly damaging his 911 GT3 Cup car at Snetterton.
The Kent-based racer plans to race regularly across the balance of the Open season in the car that was raced in the 1998 Porsche Supercup by Tim Harvey.
“It has been a labour of love to fix the car,” he says. “It will be good to get back out again.” The shunt left the car with damaged suspension, bodywork and even broke the crankcase in the backwards impact. “I’ll do Silverstone and see how I get on; I’ll definitely be back!”
Harrison, who also does some instructing at Brands Hatch, has only ever raced Porsches and was a front-runner in the latter days of the Porsche Cup. “I’d love to do the Carrera Cup, but it’s all down to budget.”
