The UK's hottest music property The Darkness have put their name on aDays of Thunder race car for the 2004 season at Rockingham.
Following their appearance on the Rockingham stage last August,Lowestoft's favourite sons have taken the British music industry bystorm and Rockingham has maintained a close relationship with the band.At the Thunder at the Rock event last year, Roland Rehfeld's car wassponsored by The Darkness in a one race meeting deal. The Darknessagreed that they would like to see this happen again in 2004 and so TeamDarkness was born.
The band got their first look at the car that will carry their name thisyear at a special launch at The Grove hotel in Chandlers Cross onSaturday. Justin Hawkins commented: "It's great to have an ally that'sbehind the band. Rockingham has been very supportive since the beginningand it's good to give something back".
Kidd Richardson Racing's Shaun Richardson is extremely pleased at thenews "The Darkness is a monster brand to put on our car and this deal isfantastic news for us and the series. I am positive we will do the bandproud this year and look forward to bringing the car home at the fronton May 2nd!"
Rockingham has continued to work closely with The Darkness since lastyear and even provided a 1969 Ford Mustang - complete with flames andDarkness logos - for the band to arrive in style at the recent BRITs,where they picked up three awards, including Best Album for their smashhit 'Permission to Land'.
The fans will get their first opportunity to see the new car when TeamDarkness takes to the track on Sunday 2nd May for the first meeting ofthe 2004 season.
