The racecar editorial team enjoyed a girls day out at Silverstone last week courtesy of Uniroyal who were launching two new rain tyres at the circuit.
The tyre manufacturer put on a spectacular day which enabled Jane and Tracy to be piloted around the track by Uniroyal Ambassador Alain Prost and Whizzo Williams in top spec cars - including a number of 'edge of the seat' laps with racecar.com's own Nick Pascoe in a special two seat version of the Endurance Racing Beetle.
Tracy felt brave enough to take on the boys on the wet weather track - only demolishing a couple of bollards - and the girls were handed the keys of a brand new 4x4 to take orienteering round 30 miles of countryside off track.
Fortunately for Uniroyal the pubs were closed and the girls could not find the nearest Tescos.
Apparently Whizzo Williams was ridiculously spectacular in some AMG Mercs - demonstrating at will the progressive nature of the tyres on the limit - especially around the luffield complex where he could have been quite competitive in the recent UKD1 challenge...
Racecar.com enter a beetle in the Uniroyal Beetle Challenge - piloted by Nick Pascoe - who is actually doing quite well in the series at the moment - and also the Racecar office hack - a venerable old 944 runs on these tyres - they really are pretty good!
