Over 5000 people are expected to attend the country’s biggest modified car event at Crail Raceway this Sunday (May 2nd 2004), where the UK’s best selling car magazine, Max Power, will pick Scotland’s top cars take part in the ‘Max Power Live’ show at Birmingham, later in the summer.
The Max Power events staged at Crail Raceway are the busiest of the season and numbers are set to increase this year as Scotland welcomes the Max Power Road Show which comes north of the border for the first time, accompanied by Fuel Records and the famous Max Girls.
Also visiting Crail Raceway for the first time is TV presenter Adam Rayner, who regularly features on the Men & Motors channel. Rayner will act as compere throughout the day for this special event.
Returning to Scotland is TV stunt master Russ Swift and his Mini & Mitsubishi Evo Stunt show, performing two wheeled tricks and pinpoint accurate driving skills. Swift has established himself as the world's number one precision driver with numerous TV commercials, car launches and motorshows to his credit worldwide. Recent TV appearances include “Guinness World Record”, “Top Gear”, “Driven”, “Fifth Gear” and “Wrong Car Right Car”.
Also making an appearance on the May bank holiday weekend will be the Dutch jet quad, Pyromaniac, which makes its first visit of the year. Developed in Holland it is driven by a helicopter, Rolls Royce jet engine equipped with an afterburner. The team designed the technology to convert a shaft turbine into a thrust engine.
World record stunt champion, Dave Coates, who thrilled crowds at RAF Edzell last Sunday will perform his internationally acclaimed bike stunt show again at Crail. This time he will be accompanied by his wife Sandra – together they hold the fastest record for two people riding a bike backwards, with a 137.6mph. Coates will carry out a variety of his world famous stunts, such as wheelies, stoppies, burnouts, surfing and skiing off the back of the bike on titanium shoes.
Crail Raceway anticipate more families through the gate this year, therefore have set up a child friendly zone, including bouncy castles, a Rodeo Bull and a giant inflatable whale slide.
As well as the run what you brung action on the ¼ mile drag strip, which takes place on the mile long runways of the 350 acre, WWII air base, there will be a number of static shows, and an indoor marquee with stalls and trade stands. Further entertainment will include a Radio Tay road show and entertainment from Equinox, car sumo, engine destruction and burnout & drifting challenge.
The only requirement to take part at Crail is a valid UK driving licence, £7 for admission and a £15 signing-on fee, which entitles participants to unlimited runs. At the end of the day personal performance print-outs showing reaction times to the start lights, 60', 1/4 mile times, and top speed will be given out – personal times can be easily accessed through crailraceway.co.uk
