Horizon debut Horizon GT Chassis

Horizon Motorsports LLC, will debut its new Horizon GT chassis at the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series Paul Revere 250 presented by Brumos Porsche at Daytona International Speedway, June 30 - July 1.  The chassis is designed to meet Grand American's goal for future GT cars to visually appear "as delivered by the factory" to increase the appeal to fans and sponsors.  While the rules stipulate this requirement for 2005, Horizon Motorsports LLC, will compete with this chassis in 2004, with an engine built to this year's rules package.

"The Horizon GT chassis is a product that can give Grand American evenlarger and more competitive fields," Grand American Director of CompetitionMark Raffauf said. "The new GT regulations allow this type of car to bebuilt and run as a variety of makes and models while significantlydecreasing the amount a GT team will have to spend to be competitive in thisseries.  The fact that Jim Harrell and Horizon Motorsports have put so muchwork into producing a product that will help us meet our goals for thefuture of the series says a lot about their commitment to Grand American. We look forward to their debut and the opportunity this car will provide newcompetitors in the Rolex Series GT class."

Horizon Motorsports LLC, will campaign the GT car with a 2004 Pontiac GTObody and a General Motors LS6 Gen III fuel-injected V-8 engine.  Horizon iscurrently seeking sponsors as well as funded drivers for the final sevenraces of the 2004 season.

"The Horizon GT generic chassis was developed through many months ofconsultation with Grand American, with the sole intent of providing them aproduct that can be competitive, yet flexible enough to accept variousmanufacturer's bodies and engines, as well as be affordable for teams thatdon't have the budget of some of the more exotic makes in our series. Allthe parts on this chassis are well-proven in NASCAR and readily availablethrough many different sources.  We're trying to make it as easy as possiblefor a team to go racing and have a chance to win races with the right driverbehind the wheel," team principle of Horizon Motorsports LLC Jim Harrellsaid.

Horizon Motorsports LLC, will sell the chassis to teams that can then runthe car with the engine and bodywork of their choice.  The Horizon GTchassis will accept body/front engine combinations from variousmanufacturers, including General Motors, Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Toyota andHonda.
