Matt Neal has won the first of Sunday's three Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship rounds at Silverstone in his Computeach Racing with Halfords Honda Civic.
Neal took the lead early on from SEAT Sport UK’s Jason Plato, who started from pole position, and thereafter was never headed. Plato, in his Toledo Cupra, finished third after also falling behind reigning champion Yvan Muller in his Vauxhall Astra Coupe.
Muller’s team-mate James Thompson, who challenged for the lead in the opening stages, finished fourth.
In tenth, with a tactical drive, was Plato’s team-mate Robert Huff. Thanks to the BTCC’s top ten reversed grid rule, Huff started the second of the afternoon’s three races from pole position.
