The O2 Get Connected! Team Await Welcome In The Hillside
Damian Cole and Dorian Rees will be keen to continue their successful start on the Kwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship. The two O2 Get Connected! drivers will be hoping the second round of the series, the Rally of Wales will be kind to their ACE Motorsport prepared Subaru's.
While Hereford based Welshman, Cole is learning with every rally contested with his limited gravel experience, Rees will be aiming to extend his lead in the Prodrive Subaru Production Cup 2004 following his round one win on the Pirelli International Rally.
Encouraged by his times on the opening round of the series, Cole will be eager for something similar in the North and Mid Wales forests. In Gateshead Damian admitted a cautious start and felt by the end of the rally that he and his Church Stretton co-driver Phil Clarke were starting to use more of the power available to them in their Subaru Impreza World Rally Car and will hoping to resume where they left off on the Pirelli.
"If we can drive like we were over the final few stages from the start this time, we could well improve on our 16th place on the first round, it would be nice to get inside the top ten on our home event."
Llanybydder driver Rees and his Aberystwyth co-driver, Patrick Walsh are also looking to better their seventh overall placing on home soil. The West Wales pair want to be the first production car home, something that eluded them on the previous round by one place. The rallying duo feel the Welsh forests will suit their Subaru Impreza WRX.
"The straights in Kielder Forest were very fast and long. The Welsh stages are far more twisty and better suited to our car and with the added experience of the stages in Wales should give us some increased pace. There will be another good battle I'm sure for the win. I ran as course opening car on the Rally of Wales two years ago so I have had some experience of the event and will be looking forward to competing in front of a home crowd as part of the O2 Get Connected! team."
The Rally of Wales gets underway from Dolgellau on Saturday 15th May, with first car leaving the start line at 13.00. The forestry complexes of Dyfi and Dyfnant making up the sixty-two competitive special stage mileage during Saturday. The competition then resumes on Sunday with an additional forty special stage miles in Hafren and Sweet Lamb complexes, a total of one hundred and two competitive miles before returning to the finish in Dolgellau at 12.40.
