Revival Rally tops 100 entries

The Revival Rally - the new event set for next November whichaims to rekindle the atmosphere of the Lombard RAC Rally, witha full three days and three nights around-the-UK route - hastopped 100 entries.

Cars are coming from as far as Bermuda, Finland, Canada andIreland, with manufacturers supporting entries from Peugeot,Vauxhall, MG, Suzuki and Daihatsu.

The event is exclusively reserved for cars up to 1400cc withstandard engines, tranmissions and brakes, prepared to theall-new Endurance Rallying formula recently agreed by the MSA(governing body of UK motorsport).

The event will be flagged away from York - a traditionallystart venue of the Lombard RAC - and head via a competitivesection at Scarborough seafront (closed specially for theevent) into the Yorkshire forests and then Northumberland,finishing a long day at Carlisle after a surviving KielderForest.

The next leg will run down western England to Chester, anotherwell-known RAC Rally resting-point, before setting out for thefull length of Wales, where the course will be 80 per centgravel, taking in such famous rally venues as Esgair Dafyd,Epynt, Sweet Lamb and Caerwent. The event will finish inCheltenham, with a competitive section in a street closedspecially by Cheltenham Borough Council.

There will be more 300 miles of off-road competition, inaddition to demanding roads and a time schedule which has tobe met for three long days in unpredictable weather, over acourse of more than 1,200 miles.

Colway Motorsport’s 'Road Plus' reinforced rally tyre is theapproved control tyre, the only rally tyre competitors areallowed to use, providing a greater level of competition byplacing everyone on the same rubber, rain or shine. At £38each, the tyre also drastically cuts costs for competitors.

Seen as the ultimate test of the showroom-standard productioncar, the Organisers have now received the backing of six majormanufacturers.

The event is supported by Scarborough Borough Council,Cheltenham Borough Council, Colway Motorsport, Safety Devicesand the csma, Britain’s largest motor club and is organised by the Endurance Rally Association.
