Bumper entries have been assembled for the Michelin Porsche Club Championship and the Michelin Porsche Open race at Silverstone this weekend (Saturday 15 May). At a time when a number of national championships are struggling for entries, the Porsche Club GB will be taking 47 cars to Silverstone for the pair of races.
An excellent 22-car field will line up for round three of the Club Championship, including all the major title contenders as well as front-runners like Craig Rapp (3.2 Carrera) making his season debut.
The Open field, meanwhile, totals an impressive 25-car cars and includes at least five drivers making their debut in the series. Five 911 GT3 Cup cars will be on the grid, including Open debutants Nick Staveley and Gerald Harrison, while Kevin Harrison returns to racing after almost a year away. Also running with the GT3s in class two is the new 964RSR of Tony Brown.
Maintaining the tremendous variety for which the Open is renowned is series newcomer Paul Herbert (914-6) while Paul Hogan's 996 Turbo Tiptronic is also entered. However, amongst the fastest cars in the race will be the 911GT3RS of series newcomer Steve Donovan, who will line up against Richard Chamberlain (935) and Rupert Lewin (996 GT2R) in class one.
After Silverstone, the Club Championship and Open Series contenders are back in action a week later with double-header rounds at Snetterton on 22/23 May.
