Jordan Warnock Racing will contest the British round of the FIA GT Championship at Donington Park on 27 June with a Porsche 911GT3RS for team owners Mike Jordan and David Warnock.
Although the team's prime focus for 2004 is a joint assault on the British GT Championship and Le Mans Endurance Series, it will take time out to contest the Donington race in support of team sponsor John Guest. The company is sponsoring the Donington meeting and is expecting to take a large number of guests to the event.
The team tested at Donington yesterday (Thursday 13 May), with Jordan and Warnock joined by Michael Caine. The team was testing both its 911GT3RS and the new 911GT3RSR that it will campaign in the LMES races. Caine's test session was the result of a long-standing agreement between Jordan and Caine. Having been friends and rivals since their time in the TVR Tuscan Challenge, Jordan had always wanted to give Caine the chance to try a Porsche. "He's doing a lovely job in it," said Jordan.
The test was the first chance for Warnock to drive one of the JWR cars since becoming heavily involved with the team earlier this year. "The idea of today was just to get a taster before the FIA race here in June," he reported. "That's the best 911 I've ever driven," added Warnock of the GT3RS.
Meanwhile, Jordan was able to carry out some development work on the GT3RSR that is owned by Graham Ketley. "It's the first time we've worked on springs and dampers and really got into sorting the car," explained Jordan. The car's first race will be in the LMES race at the Nurburgring over the weekend of 3/4 July. That race will come at the end of a very busy period for JWR as it comes straight after a British GT race at Castle Combe (19/20 June) and the FIA GT race at Donington (26/27 June).
