BRITCAR ENDURANCE RACES

Following a torrid time at Silverstone BTCC, this weekend sees Anthony Reid sharing another drive in the MG Sport & Racing MG ZR 2 litre with Fiona Leggate at Donington Park.

Last weekend Tony Jardine was the guest driver with Fiona at the Pembrey Britcar Enduro 2 hr races. Saturday’s race ended with a diff problem, but the duo made a good recovery from almost last in Sunday’s event to take a storming second place in class and 5th overall. Father John and son Mark Hammersley took 9th and 8th overall respectively in their MG ZR160.

Anthony Reid finished 6th, 3rd and 2nd, but was protested by Vauxhall for an incident with Thompson and lost 2nd place points from race 3. On appeal this was reduced to a 10 sec penalty which dropped him to 4th in race 3. He still leads the Independents Trophy and is 3rd overall. Colin Turkington took 11th, 5th and 12th and is equal 3rd in the Indi cup with Matt Neal.

West Surrey Racing is 2nd in the teams championship.

MG RALLY SCHOLARSHIP – ROUND 3: WELSH RALLY

There is a full turnout from MG for the return of the popular Welsh Rally this weekend-15/16th May. Tony Jardine is taking part in his GpN MG ZR and the six scholarship 1.4 ZRs will be there, but the main talking point for rally enthusiasts is that Gwyndaf Evans has entered his home rally in a Scholarship MG ZR 1400 with Huw Lewis as co-driver. As has been reported in previous bulletins, Gwyndaf has been very actively involved with the Scholarship since it started last year and has been a real source of inspiration to all the scholars.

Four members of the XPOWER cycle team are currently in Australia representing Great Britain in the World Championships, but Robin Sharman kept the MG Team flag flying as he took his best ever UK result by finishing second overall.
