Nascar adds green partner

Nascar has signed a multi-year partnership with the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE).

The deal will see the non-profit organisation, which promotes the use of clean energy by focusing on finance, technology and policy, become an official green partner of the motorsport series.

ACORE will activate the new partnership through activities at Nascar Sprint Cup races at Daytona, Chicagoland, and Kansas Speedway, providing 'educational tools about renewable energy and sustainability, and on-site membership registration.'

ACORE's partnership is itself being funded through sponsorship from Lockheed Martin, the American aerospace and defence giant.

"Our new partnership with ACORE exemplifies Nascar's commitment to expand the reach and scope of our green platform," said Mike Lynch, Nascar vice president of green innovation.

"This collaboration will allow us to implement forward-thinking initiatives that are designed to educate our industry and fans about the benefits of putting environmentally responsible practices in place."
