Steve Hyde, a well-known and popular figure among the front runners in the British GT Championship, has been confirmed as the driver who will join Morgan Works Team regulars Adam Sharpe and Neil Cunningham at the 24 Hours Le Mans event in June.

While Steve is perhaps best known for his exploits with TVR, he is no stranger to the unique world that is Morgan. He drove the Morgan Aero 8 at Le Mans in 2002 – an event that saw the famous British marque’s return to the world’s most prestigious race after an absence of 40 years.

Commenting, Steve Hyde said:

“I am really pleased and excited to be going back to Le Mans with Morgan. It is a very special car, and a very special race. I have a great deal of respect for my co-drivers, and I know that the whole team will do their utmost to give the crowd a touch of magic, and a weekend to remember.”

The huge crowd’s enthusiastic reception for the Morgan team in 2002 – despite its retirement with a blown engine after 18 hours – led to the creation of  the Works Team, which has won through against major financial, technical and accident setbacks to regain a place at the ‘invitation only’ event again this year. In doing so, Morgan Works has earned respect from fans all over the world. The Team is continuing it’s search for the additional sponsorship it needs to challenge the well-funded Porsche and Ferrari teams at Le Mans on a level playing field.
