Motors TV Weekend Highlights March 1,2

Following a three-month break, V8 Supercars is back on the High Speed Television Channel with live coverage of round one, the Clipsal 500. Held on Adelaide’s former grand prix circuit, there is plenty to look forward to as the season kicks off in the autumnal surroundings of the South Australian capital. There are plenty of questions to answer this season: can Jamie Whincup win his fourth consecutive championship and a sixth overall? Will anyone challenge the 31-year-old and his Triple Eight squad for honours as the latter also hunt their sixth title? And can Volvo, competing as a manufacturer for the first time in 28 years, get in on the action with the heavyweights? After pre-season testing, everyone will be eager to hear the sound of 25 V8s reverberate around the streets of Adelaide as the country’s premier touring car series heats up.Staying with V8 muscle, Motors TV’s live coverage of the NASCAR Nationwide Series returns this weekend when we head west to the Phoenix International Raceway for the second round of the championship.Despite sharing a drive with Sam Hornish Jr, top-tier regular Kyle Busch will be looking to repeat the victory he took this time last year, the first of 12 that included two in Arizona. However, Regan Smith beat him to the punch last weekend in Daytona for his fourth series victory and will look to further capitalise on his strong 2013 showings in order to mount a championship challenge.Meanwhile, former Camping World Truck Series champion James Buescher returns to the series full-time after running limited schedules for the last six seasons.Heading back to the Southern Hemisphere once more, we have comprehensive highlights from one of Australia’s classics: the Bathurst 12 Hour. The event has quickly re-established itself as a landmark in GT and production car racing, since its return in 2007. Now in its 13th year, the race is considered close to the motorsport summit Down Under. The sight of cars rising and falling through The Esses, The Dipper, the Conrod Straight and The Chase combine to make this dawn-to-dusk event an unmissable spectacle. Erebus Motorsport will return with a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 looking to repeat their 2013 win after ending Audi’s run of victories, the fourth time in succession that a German manufacturer has triumphed. We shift from four wheels to two as the opening round of the FIM Motocross World Championship kicks off the motorcycle season on Motors TV with the opening round from Losail, Qatar. With MX1 becoming MXGP, reigning champion Tony Cairoli will hope this proves to be the only alteration from last season as he scrambles after his sixth successive title on the KTM. Can the Belgian trio of Clement Desalle, Ken de Dycker and Kevin Strijbos finally end the Italian’s mesmerising run?Meanwhile in MX2, the totally dominant Jeffrey Herlings will be seeking a third consecutive title and will be eager to repeat his start to 2013. He failed to win only twice in the first 14 rounds before sustaining a shoulder injury in Belgium and will be hoping to stay healthy as he aims to secure a clean sweep this season. In a refreshing change of scenery, we drift to the snow of France for a season review of the Andros Trophy, Europe’s premier ice racing championship, which is famous for attracting star drivers from other categories. Current champion Jean-Philippe Dayraut was aiming to secure a fifth title and edge closer to Yvan Muller’s record of 10.Saturday 1 March05:45 LIVE V8 Supercars, Rd 1, Adelaide (Race 1)08:10 LIVE V8 Supercars, Rd 1, Adelaide (Race 2)11:05 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, Rd 12, Sparks – Highlights13:25 V8 Supercars, Rd 1, Adelaide – Replay16:00 LIVE FIM Motocross World Championship, Rd 1, Qatar20:55 LIVE NASCAR Nationwide Series, Rd 2, PhoenixSunday 2 March09:00 Andros Trophy Season Review14:00 V8 Supercars, Rd 1, Adelaide – Replay (Race 3)16:20 Bathurst 12 Hour, Mount Panorama – Highlights All times are GMT
