SHEFFIELD have announced plans to open the season with special individual event to raise funds for their new air fence.The Owlerton club, who are under new management, will host the ‘Sheffield Air Fence Fund Bonanza’ on Thursday March 27.Sheffield No.1 Simon Stead is a confirmed starter for the meeting along with King’s Lynn’s Elite League star Rory Schlein and Ashley Birks of Scunthorpe.Consortium member Damien Bates said: “We’ve made a good start to the line-up and more names are on the way. The air fence will be in place under the new regulations but we will be fund-raising to pay for it throughout the year.”

THE 2014 Midland Development League has expanded to ten teams with Sheffield successful in a late application to join.The inclusion of the Tiger Cubs means the league is at its highest number of members since matches were first staged in 2011.The Knockout Cup draw has also been made: 1st round – Sheffield v Castleford, Buxton v Belle Vue2nd round – Buxton/Belle Vue v Sheffield/Castleford, Rye House v Milton Keynes, King’s Lynn v Long Eaton, Coventry v Stoke.
