ADM Motorsport announces Zlobin and Trofimov for ATS Formula 3 Cup

ADM Motorsport has announced the two Russians Sergey Trofimov and Nikita Zlobin as new additions to the ATS Formula 3 Cup grid. Both come from the international Russian-backed young-driver promotion programme SMP Racing. Zlobin already got a taste of racing atmosphere in Germany’s fastest single-seater series back in 2013. The Italian team is going for victory with the two drivers. A third driver will follow.

SMP Racing wants to promote young Russian talents and to carry the nationally fastest growing sports into the world. More than 50 drivers contest international races. The officials chose Renato Melchioretto's team to be their sole partner in Formula 3. “ADM Motorsport today has one of the most powerful teams of engineers, who can promote and coach the drivers. The approach of ADM has the primary goal to teach the driver to work closely with the engineer and to pay most attention to the setup of the car. Participating in the ATS Formula 3 Cup with ADM Motorsport is a logical step for us in training the drivers. I also contested the European Formula 3000 with ADM and personally know their effective ways of working with drivers, which produced a lot of champions,” says SMP Racing sporting director Sergey Zlobin. The team principal appreciates the trust placed in them. “These two drivers are definitely winners and a great addition to our team,” says Melchioretto. “They are young talents who have what it takes to succeed.”

Ready for the victorySergey Trofimov from Moscow is a new addition to the ADM Motorsport team. In 2010, the 16-year old student was at the wheel of a race car for the first time. Sergey quickly made progress and took bronze in the drivers’ standings and gold in the team standings of the MitJet Summer Cup. He made his debut in the Formula 2000 Light Italia, where he set a fastest lap on Sicilian track Autodromo MBR during test runs. In 2013 he spent a successful season in the Italian championship for young talents, the Formula Abarth. He took the podium three times and won the Trofeo Nazionale. “Formula 3 is a big step forward for me! I have never been at the wheel of such a car,” says Trofimov. “It will not be easy but I am ready.”

A new opportunity for ZlobinIn 2013, 17-year old Nikita Zlobin from Moscow contested the races at Lausitzring for the ADM Motorsport team. He is the son of Sergey Zlobin, the first Russian Formula 1 driver. Nikita made his debut in the race class MitJet in 2010. There he secured the first victory of the season in one of the Summer Cup races. In 2012 he moved to Formula racing, contesting the Formula 2000 Light Italia and Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS. In 2013 Nikita continued racing in the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS. “I think Formula 3 is a mandatory step on your way to Formula1, and I am really happy to be taking part in it,” says Zlobin. “I contested three races last year. We learned a lot then which we can use now.”
