Borkowski To Join Cegwa Sport

Mike Borkowski will drive the CegwaSport No. 3 Lexus Fabcar for the Rolex Sports Car Series 6 Heures du CircuitMont-Tremblant, May 21-23.  Borkowski won on the 2.65-mile Le CircuitMont-Tremblant road course a year ago, one of his three Daytona Prototypevictories in 2003.

"Mike tested with us in Virginia two weeks ago and was very quick straightout of the box," said team owner and co-driver Darius Grala.  "He fit inwith the team very well.  We have also made a number of technicalimprovements to the car since Phoenix, and adding Mike to the team forMont-Tremblant can only make us stronger.  We owe a great deal of thanks tothe Mears Motor Coach team for making him available to drive with us thisweekend."

In addition to his win at Mont-Tremblant in 2003, Borkowski finished firstat California and Watkins Glen, then driving the Red Bull Brumos Racing No.58 Porsche Fabcar. Teamed with David Donohue, the two finished second in theRolex Series Daytona Prototype championship.

Borkowski also was the 1997 Trans-Am Rookie of the Year.  He joined TommyKendall as the only two Trans-Am drivers to win races that season. TheCornell University graduate began racing quarter midgets at the age of sevenand later won back-to-back championships in Pro Formula 2000 and Pro Sports2000. He also campaigned in the Indy Lights series as a protégé ofopen-wheel legend Bobby Rahal.

Borkowski will co-drive with Grala and veteran sports car racer John Lloyd,the team's full-time driver pair for 2004.  Both Grala and Lloyd competed atMont-Tremblant in 2002. In Ferrari Challenge competition, Grala qualified onpole and won the race on his way to winning the 2002 series championship.

Cegwa Sport was one of the six founding teams in the 2003 Daytona Prototypeclass.  They were also the first team to campaign and develop theLexus/Toyota V8 power plant, which has dominated qualifying in the firstthree events of 2004.  The team scored two podium finishes in 2003, and madeits 2004 debut at Phoenix with a top 10 finish.
