(SPEEDWAY 1 – SUNDAY PREVIEW)

WORLD Champion Tai Woffinden makes his long-awaited return to track action at Leicester on Sunday.Woffinden, who clinched the title in Poland five months ago despite suffering serious collarbone injuries, leads Great Britain against a Rest of the World team in the Ben Fund Bonanza (2pm).

He said: “I haven’t ridden since back in October – the day after Torun – so it’s been a pretty long break. It’s been good to get some time off to reflect but things are all starting to get going again now – I had my first practice last weekend in Poland and I’m raring to go again.“I’ve been working hard to keep my fitness up and I’m still in good shape – even coming in as World Champion, everything feels like normal.”The fund-raising meeting is also the first as national team boss for Alun Rossiter, and several riders will be looking to make an early impression ahead of this summer’s World Cup.Rossiter has handed senior call-ups to Richard Lawson and Kyle Howarth, whilst Birmingham skipper Danny King is targeting a big season as he chases international recognition.King said: “Everything is building up for this first meeting now and I'm just looking to blow off the cobwebs, get the first one out of the way and hopefully score some points.“It would be nice if as a team Great Britain could start off with win and I personally could hit the ground running. It's going to be a big year for me and I'm looking forward to it."TEAM GB: Tai Woffinden, Richard Lawson, Chris Harris, Danny King, Craig Cook, Kyle Howarth, Richie Worrall, Ben Barker.REST OF THE WORLD: Bjarne Pedersen, Josh Grajczonek, Adam Skornicki, Cameron Woodward, Ty Proctor, Patrick Hougaard, Nick Morris, Morten Risager.(FIXTURES)
