Dan Wells joins Drivex for Euroformula Open Winter Series

Drivex F3 starts its 2014 season in the Euroformula Open taking part in the last Winter Series event at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Montmeló is a track evoking big and tender memories to the whole team, as Drivex was crowned European Formula 3 champion in Montmeló with Ricard Gonda last November.

For this test session the Dallara F308 will be entrusted to Dan Wells, a young Briton resident in Hong Kong. Wells, aged 22, debuted in racing in 2010 participating in the Formula Renault Winter Cup en 2010, and later taking part in other championships organized by Renault. In 2012 and 2013 he moved to Asia racing in the Formula Masters China, finishing as vice-champion in his debut and claiming three victories and nine podiums.

Wells and Drivex will have their first outing on Saturday, with four test sessions throughout the day.

Dan Wells: “I´m very pleased to be joining Drivex F3 for the test in Barcelona this weekend. It is a very last minute deal and as soon as I found out it was going ahead, I immediately changed onto European time when I was in Hong Kong, where I live! I love the driving style of the F3 car, and of course I am also a big fan of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, so it will be good for me after a few months out of the car over the winter. I look forward to seeing how the team and I perform on the day. I would like to thank Miguel Ángel de Castro and Drivex for this opportunity.”

Miguel Ángel de Castro: “I am delighted to be able to have Dan with us at Drivex F3. He is a very talented racer and I have no doubts he will fulfill our expectations on Saturday. Drivex is characterized by supporting young drivers such as Dan, backed by his talent and not big budgets. Just like Richard last season, I feel he is the right bet for our team.”
