MOMO NGT Motorsports Sebring Post-Qualifying Report

MOMO NGT Motorsport Porsche will start from the 11th GTD class grid position for the 62nd Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on Saturday, March 15.

Polish Porsche ace, Kuba Giermaziak, qualified the 470-horsepower Porsche 911 GT America (Type 991) with a time of 2:05.029 at 107.687 mph in the super-competitive GT Daytona (GTD) class, less than one second off the pole-winning GTD competitor. This class in the new IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship featured 24 qualifiers, and although the team expected a higher qualifying position, they are confident that in a 12-hour endurance race like Sebring, strategy, skill, and preparation can make up for starting position.

Kuba Giermaziak, driver of No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Porsche 911 GTD:

"Qualifying went well, but it could have been better. We made a lot of changes to the car to make it more drivable for the race and I believe it is the right direction. The team is doing a great job and I think we're going to be really fast in the race. We could realistically be running in the Top 6, but I think things will be better tomorrow during the race."

Ramez Wahab, NGT Motorsports Team Owner, No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Porsche 911 GTD:

"Obviously, qualifying didn't go as we had hoped. We're going to have to go over the car to determine exactly why, as it was seven-tenths slower than the pole-sitter and a bit disappointing. However, it's a long race tomorrow, so it's not all about the bragging rights, although it is nice to brag once in a while. Again, we're confident and a lot can happen in twelve hours. I'm hoping we have a good car, stay out of unscheduled pit stops, and have a little bit of luck tomorrow."

NGT Motorsport also competed in Rounds 1 and 2 of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama at Sebring International Raceway, which featured 45-minute races on both Thursday and Friday, fielding seven GT3 Porsches entries. Mark Llano, with the No. 24 Porsche entry put on a good show in both races, where he finished sixth both days.

Llano also sits on the Board of Directors for the newly launched Motorsport Safety Foundation, which held its debut press conference at Sebring International Raceway today.

Mark Llano, driver of No. 24 MOMO IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge:

"The race on Thursday was much more challenging than the race this morning. With the temperatures going up, the track conditions were a little slippery, especially near the end of the race. This morning was an incredible race. We were doing great and holding third position, which was respectable. Coming into the last eight minutes of the race, I decided to push a little harder and use a different gear and the car locked up. We had a spin in Turn 5 but recovered and finished sixth in the Master's Category of the Gold class, and ran our fastest lap of 2:09.760, so we're happy with that. The track was in great condition, and we're going to keep pushing."

Christina Nielsen, Platinum Class - finished 5th in Round 1 and 5th in Round 2Mark Bullitt, Platinum Class - finished 9th in Round 1 and 22nd in Round 2Eduardo Cisneros, Platinum Class - finished 14th in Round 1 and 11th in Round 2Fred Kaimer, Master in the Gold Class - finished 5th in Round 1 and 8th in Round 2Amadeo Quiros, Master in Platinum Class - finished 12th in Round 1 and 6th in Round 2Javier Quiros, Master in the Platinum Class - finished 13th in Round 1 and 4th in Round 2Ludovico Manfredi competed in Round One the No. 30 MOMO ANSA Motorsports IMSA Lites in the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda race, finishing second in the L2 class.
