The first round of the South African Rally Championship season produced the first podium finish for the Volkswagen Sasolracing team.

Hans Weijs jr. (NL) and Bjorn Degandt (B) claimed third place in Tour Natal in their Volkswagen Polo S2000.

Their team-mates Henk Lategan/Pierre Arries (ZA/ZA) finished the season opener in fifth place.

“It feels good claiming a podium in this event, we are on a good level and think we will be pushing from stage one at the next rally”, said Weijs jr.

The winners of the rally were Leeroy Poulter/Elvéne Coetzee (Toyota).
