Silverstone Motorsport Ltd has confirmed that it is planning to run a non-championship round of the BRDC Historic Sports Car Championship as a support race at the 2004 Foster’s British Grand Prix (9th – 11th July).
This follows he decision by BTCC Series Director, Alan Gow, to regrettably withdraw British Touring Cars from the schedule after a number of BTCC teams withdrew their support for the non- championship round.
The historic race will include sports cars from the late 1950s and early 1960s, including Jaguar D- Types, Jaguar C-Types, Lolas and Coopers. This year’s British Grand Prix will also be supported by official FIA Championship races including the Porsche Michelin Supercup, Vodafone Maserati Trophy and FIA Formula 3000 Championship.
