Rockstar Energy Suzuki on Mantova podium

Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Clement Desalle and Kevin Strijbos both displayed good form at the Mantova Starcross International Motocross in Italy on Sunday with second and third overall aboard their Factory RM-Z450s.

The event in Mantova is normally a classic pre-season event, but with the early 2014 GP season start in Qatar and Thailand, the organiser opted for a later date in the loaded Motocross calendar.

Desalle was the fastest in Saturday's Superpole race - a crowd-pleasing race between the top qualifying riders. In the first race on Sunday the young Belgian was quickest out of the gate and pretty-much led the race with a comfortable lead of five seconds over Gautier Paulin and Strijbos in third.

In the second heat it was the other way around for the duo with Paulin taking victory from Desalle and Strijbos. The third and final heat saw a close battle between Paulin and Desalle, but after a small error from the Suzuki rider, he had to settle for second and second overall, while Strijbos took third overall after another third place.

The team will stay a couple more days in Italy for testing and will travel back to Belgium later this week. The next race on the schedule for Rockstar Energy Suzuki will be the Brazilian Grand Prix, held in Beto Carrero, on March 30th.
