French Rallycross Champion enters Euro RX

Reigning French Rallycross Champion Jérome Grosset-Janin will compete in this year’s FIA European Rallycross Championship (Euro RX) at the wheel of a Renault Clio III Supercar. The 29-year-old Frenchman will also contest his home event: World RX of France in Loheac (6-7 September).Grosset-Janin will be safe in the knowledge that his French-based team Chanoine Competition has more than 30 years’ experience in rallycross. After winning several French rallycross titles, team manager Philippe Chanoine was keen to progress in 2014 and made the decision to step up to Euro RX.“After taking the French title last year, we wanted to aim higher in 2014,” explained team boss Chanoine. “Our main target is to do well in Europe but also to finish with a good result at our home race in Lohéac, which will hopefully help us to find new partners to enter World RX in 2015.”This year will mark Grosset-Janin’s fourth season with the Chanoine team and the French Rallycross Champion spoke positively following the announcement:

“I am very proud of representing France this year – it is a big opportunity, and I would like to thank all the people that have made this possible," said the Frenchman. "There’s no denying the competition will be very high, especially with experienced drivers like Jacques Villeneuve and Peter Solberg being part of the Championship but I will concentrate on the European title and I hope that we will deliver some outstanding races at the same time.”Martin Anayi, Managing Director of FIA World Rallycross Championship for IMG Motorsport, was pleased to see another big name join this year’s Championship: “The calibre of drivers we have set to compete in World RX this year is first class and it’s excellent that we now have Jérôme joining us for six rounds. With a string of wins on home soil coupled with Jérôme’s vast experience of the sport, Chanoine Competition will be a serious contender for the 2014 Euro RX title.”Grosset-Janin will kickstart his 2014 campaign on World RX of Great Britain at Lydden Hill from 24-25 May, which will also form the opening round of this year’s Euro RX.
