Kyle-Henney steps up to Carrera Cup GB

Peter Kyle-Henney will graduate to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this year following the introduction of the brand new Type-991 911 GT3 Cup. Parr Motorsport will run the Hampshire-based driver who only started racing in 2013. Kyle-Henney competed in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge last season, taking a win at Brands Hatch in the process. Prior to that, he had several years of track day experience in a 911 GT3 Cup. Backing comes from Sesanti, a company specializing in electro-optics.“I have significantly upped the ante by joining the Carrera Cup,” said Kyle-Henney. “This is a serious championship which has produced some exceptional drivers over the years. With such limited race experience I have to be realistic as to which end of the grid I will be at.” Former Carrera Cup GB race winner and current Porsche Supercup driver Ben Barker will be tutoring Peter, imparting the experience he gained from racing the Type-991 last year. Peter will also gain from Parr’s engineering involvement in Ben’s 2013 campaign.“It's fantastic and is a big step up from my 2011 car,” said Peter on his first taste of the car at the Silverstone media day. “The front-end grip is astonishing and the new car gets the refined gearbox and paddle shift it deserves. It is clear that the car’s setup is more critical than before but it’s fast and in the right hands should set new benchmarks.“The real draw this year is the opportunity to race at Le Mans in the Carrera Cup race supporting the 24 hours. To be racing on the same day Porsche returns to Le Sarthe, in what I consider to be the greatest race of all, is a huge privilege and the chance of a lifetime.” “It’s great the Peter has decided to step up to the Carrera Cup,” said Paul Robe, Parr Motorsport team principal. “We’re pleased to work with him and looking forward to a good year. He has a good chance of doing well in the Pro-Am2 category and we will be going for class wins.”
