Moritz Horn goes into top gear for KF

The German driver Moritz Horn started his first full international season in the elite category of karting, KF, at the Italian Energy Corse team, one of the most renowned teams in the discipline.

Since the first events of 2014, Moritz has recorded more and more remarkable performances. During the first round of the WSK Super Master Series at Sarno, he was regularly in the top 10 before being stopped in his tracks by a collision. But this incident didn't undermine the confidence of the driver who is determined to wear the German colours at the highest level of competition.

After racing in Juniors in his home country, Moritz Horn started international compe-titions in KF in the middle of 2013, with a 15th place at the WSK Final Cup and 22nd position in the World Championship in Bahrain. Always faithful to Energy Corse, he signed up for a full programme in 2014 with strong ambitions. From the first races of the season, his progress was fast, but it was at Sarno, near Naples, at the first meeting of the WSK Super Master Series, he begin to reap the fruits of his labour when he was regularly running in the top 10 of an extremely competitive class.

A true rehearsal for the European Cham-pionship, the WSK Super Master Series brings together the best factories and theleading specialist kart teams of the wor-ld, with 18 nationalities represented and 3 continents. It is in this very competitive field Moritz was shown driving his Energy chassis and TM engine in context. Already very fast during free practice, he set the 9th fastest time in qualifying. His perfor-mance continued at the same pace during the heats with 10th position in the interme-diate ranking among the fifty competitors. Starting fifth in his prefinal he was unfor-tunately involved in an accident on the first lap and could therefore no longer qualify for the final.

"My disappointment at not being able to participate in the final at Sarno is lar-gely offset by the results I have achieved so far,» says the contender from Ger-many. «I’m more comfortable in KF than I was at the beginning of the season. The stopwatch has confirmed my progress in testing. Running regularly in the top 10 ofthe category is very encouraging to me and I don’t intend to stop there. I thank Michele Panigada, all of the Energy Corse team and the British engine tuner GFR for providing me with very competitive equip-ment to progress to higher levels."

There is great satisfaction in the German clan to see a representative racing at the highest level of international karting. Based on these very encouraging initial events, the 17-year-old driver has a busy schedule to make the final steps to a great result. At the rate things are going, the reward could come sooner than expected!

The rise of Moritz Horn is to follow in the biggest competitions of the 2014 karting season: WSK Super Master Series, Euro-pean Championships and World CIK-FIA Championship but also German DKM and Supernationals in Las Vegas at the end of the year.
