Gallagher signs with Parr Motorsport for Carrera Cup GB

Glasgow-based Kieran Gallagher will make his Porsche Carrera Cup GB debut at Brands Hatch (29/30 March) with the Parr Motorsport team. The 24 year-old, who works as a hydrographics surveyor, seized the opportunity after watching the new Type-991 911 GT3 Cup cars race in Abu Dhabi last year.“I was over in Abu Dhabi to watch the Formula One last year and I saw the Supercup cars up close,” said Kieran. “I’d seen them at Silverstone as well. So when I saw the 991 in the flesh at this year’s Autosport Show I fell in love with it.”Gallagher started racing at Oulton Park in 2012 in the Legends Cars Championship before driving a Scirocco in the 2013 VW Cup. He made his series debut at Spa-Francorchamps and was then offered the chance to join the BTCC for the Knockhill races last August. He acquitted himself well netting race finishes in the Vauxhall Insignia despite limited testing mileage.Kieran has committed to another season in the VW Cup but, thanks to support from sponsors Right Choice Insurance Brokers, EcoTune and Clydeside Surveys Ltd, he will dovetail that programme with the Carrera Cup GB.“Parr Motorsport has the experience with the car and knows what it is doing,” said Kieran. “I just want to get out there and do well. This has potential and I’d be very happy to race with Parr Motorsport. I’d love to win the Carrera Cup and then move up through the Porsche ranks to Supercup and then Le Mans beyond that.”“It’s great that we’ve got another young driver on board,” said team boss Paul Robe. “We’re keen to work with Kieran and to help him learn his craft in a Porsche.”
