SMM MSA British Cadet Kart Championship

Round 1: Shenington, 30 March

Kiern Jewiss and Tom Wood shared the victories in the opening round at Shenington, but Jonny Edgar left with the championship lead.

Jewiss punched ahead of polesitter Edgar at the start of the first final but was soon shuffled back to third. He recovered to second, then on the last lap sliced underneath leader Lewis Thompson to win.

In an exciting second final Jewiss and Edgar traded the lead until Wood stormed up from tenth. Wood hung on despite pressure from Edgar, while Jewiss had to settle for a disappointing ninth. “We had a bit of power trouble in the first one, so I knew I had to try my best in the second,” said Wood.
