Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS kick off at Imola this weekend

Full grid for the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS debut.

The Fast Lane Promotion Series will kick off with a 40 plus grid and 13 different teams this weekend.

On the Santerno it’s green light for the first out of seven double venues of an international calendar which will visit the charming street circuit of Pau, moving onwards to Red Bull Ring, Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, Mugello and Jerez.

There will be 24 rookies and 16 already known drivers including 19-year-old Dutch Nyck de Vries, racing with Koiranen GP and part of the McLaren’s young programme.

Watch out also though for Polish Alex Bosak,in his third season in the ALPS, this year with Prema, the team that ruled 2013 seizing both Drivers’ and Teams’ titles. Along with him there will be the Singaporian Andrew Tang and three “wild cards” - not affecting the overall standing - Brazilian Bruno Bonifacio, third overall last year, Norwegian Dennis Olsen and Estonian Hans Villemi.

Among the expected frontrunners is also Canadian Luke Chudleigh, who renewed with Tech 1 Racing, alongside Indonesian Philo Paz Patric Armand and two rookies, Hugo De Sadeleer (16, Swiss) and 17-year-old Malaysian Akash Nandy. Italian Dario Capitanio with a year's experience in the series will be driving again for BVM Racing who will also line up the Russian Semen Evstigneev.

Koiranen GP, the Finnish team will play the British card George Russell with Chinese drivers, Kang Link and Hong Li Ye and two Russians Vitaly Larionov and Mihail Tarasov.

Fortec Motorspors, major British team debuts in the series and run four cars driven by Croatian Martin Kodric, Monaco-based Charles Leclerc, Brit Sebastien Morris and Brazilian Thiago Vivacqua. The Italian teams, Prema and BVM Racing aside, are Cram Motorsport (another debut in the Series lining up Alessio Rovera), GSK Grand Prix (with the interesting Matteo Cairoli) and TS Corse, with a duo made up by the veteran Pietro Peccenini and the rookie Matteo Gonfiantini.

Arta Engineering has confirmed its presence (among its drivers the French Simon Gachet and the Australian rookie James Allen). Jenzer Motorsport has entered with the Russian Denis Korneev and the two rookies Dennis Anoshin and Marek Bockmann. The line up is completed by China BRT by JCS (Matheo Tuscher and Sun Zheng), AS Motorsport by GSK (Danyil Pronenko) and JD Motorsport (Matevos Isaakyan).

Free practices will be held on Friday while the two 30 minutes qualifying sessions are scheduled on Saturday morning. In the afternonn at 5 pm the first green light for Race 1 to be held on the usual 25’ plus a lap distance. Race 2 is instead set for Sunday at 14.15. The whole weekend will be web live broadcasted on www.renaultsportitialia.it.
