The Volkswagen mind games continue this weekend with our fourth-round highlights of Rally de Portugal as the FIA WRC season resumes. Separated by only three points, Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala will continue to square up through the blinding Portuguese dust.Reigning champion Ogier will undoubtedly enter as favourite however. The Frenchman won his maiden WRC event in Portugal four years ago, and completed his first hat-trick of victories here last season. Meanwhile Norway’s third-placed Mads Ostberg will aim to reduce Volkswagen’s ever-growing advantage. There’ll be no love lost between championship-leading team-mates in V8 Supercars either as our coverage continues from round three at Winton Motor Raceway. Completing 2014’s sole double header, there’s a quick chance to resolve any issues between Triple Eight duo Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup after an explosive meeting at Symmons Plains last weekend.Following their collision in Tasmania, defending champion Whincup proceeded to win races one and two whereas Lowndes’ third-race domination ensures their battle is nicely poised heading to Benalla. The tension will be equally electric during our sixth-round delayed coverage of NASCAR Nationwide Series from Texas Motor Speedway, the first of two trips to the Lone Star State this season. After their failure to break the Sprint Cup deadlock in Fontana, Regan Smith and Trevor Bayne are level on points, with rookies Ty Dillon and Chase Elliott trailing by a further six and eight respectively. The manufacturers’ championship battle is similarly tight with Toyota and Chevrolet tied on two victories apiece.Meanwhile at Monza, the rechristened EuroV8 Series begins, with Audi, Lexus, Mercedes, BMW and Chevrolet looking to kick off their season with victory at the fastest grand prix venue. Audi’s Tomas Kostka will aim to become only the second champion from outside Italy. And our Italian motorsport feast continues with live first-round CIV coverage from Mugello. With reigning Superbike champion Eddi La Marra continuing to recover from his coma-inducing accident, last-year’s runner-up Leandro Mercado will look to take his maiden motorcycling title.NEWS FLASH: From this afternoon improvements to our service mean that even more Freeview HD devices can receive Motors TV.
