Double for for Nyck de Vries in Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS opener

TEAM KOIRANEN GP DRIVER TAKES IT ALL AT IMOLA

A perfect weekend at Imola for Nyck de Vries. On the Santerno track, the Dutch racing for Koiranen GP opened the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS season in the best possible way, taking pole and winning both races. On Saturday he ruled race 1 from the very beginning, on Sunday the schedule was pretty much the same.

Second overall is Bruno Bonifacio. The Prema Brazilian, in Imola as wild card and thus not collecting Championship points, preceded the young French Simon Gachet (Arta Engineering) yesterday capable of his first ever podium in the 2 liters series. Still fourth Jack Aitken, the best among the Fortec Motorsports drivers, behind whom finished respectively Hans Villemi and the Brit Sebastien Morris. Seventh the Singaporian Andrew Tang, with Dennis Olsen, George Russell and Anthoine Hubert for the top ten.

THE REPORT. In pole, as for Race 1, there is still de Vries. The Dutch defends his position at the start from Bonifacio and Gachet. During the first lap Bonifacio ends up a bit wide at Rivazza and the French slips by, with Aitken that takes the tail of Bonifacio. Out Leclerc. De Vries increases his margin while at lap five Bonifacio strikes back and is once more second. In the meantime Parry collects a drive through. No more changes in the top positions and for de Vries the second win of the weekend is a piece of cake.

«It was a perfect weekend. - commented de Vries - Starting from qualify where the team chose the perfect strategy. We definitely hada better pace compared to all others».

Next venue in just more than a month, on the 10th and 11th of May, with the round on the historic and challenging French street circuit of Pau.
