Albert Completes SWR's BRDC Formula 4 Line-Up‏

BRDC Formula 4 Championship team SWR has today, Monday, 7th April, completed its 2014 driver line-up after signing British racer Jordan Albert to join Venezuela’s Diego Borrelli and Danish youngster Nicolas Beer.Albert, who resides in Silverstone village, arrives in F4 this year as a complete category rookie – like his new team-mates – but is nonetheless aiming for a strong debut campaign despite the distinct lack of racing experience compared to many of his series rivals.Without any formative career in karting the 17-year-old has just a single year of motor racing under his belt, albeit a very eclectic one. Contesting a part campaign in the 2013 Formula Ford 1600 National Championship, Albert also made appearances in the Formula Ford Festival, BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship and the Volkswagen-based Fun Cup category.Becoming a podium finisher in the Mazda series on his sole weekend in the category, the teenager also climbed the podium in the Fun Cup. Now set for his first full campaign in single-seaters, Albert cannot wait for the first three rounds of the season on 26th/27th April at his and SWR’s home track, Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.“I’m really looking forward to making my Formula 4 debut with SWR”, said the rookie, “It’s going to be a very competitive season, there are some highly experienced drivers in the championship, but I know SWR will give me a fantastic car. The team’s record from last season speaks for itself and it’s going to be great having two strong team-mates like Diego [Borrelli] and Nicolas [Beer].“I can’t wait for the first round at Silverstone, racing on the Grand Prix circuit really will be a dream come true – especially being from Silverstone! If I can have a competitive first weekend at my home track it will set me up brilliantly for the rest of the season.”SWR, of course, was one of the most successful entrants during the inaugural season for the BRDC Formula 4 Championship last year with four race victories and seven other podiums. Steering former CIK-FIA Under 18 World Karting Champion Matty Graham to fourth in the standings in his first year in cars, the Oxfordshire squad also placed in the top six with multiple karting champion Jack Barlow.Team owner Sean Walkinshaw, who races at Formula 3 level in the EuroFormula Open, is looking forward to seeing how SWR’s trio of F4 rookies develop during the year and is sure Albert, Borrelli and Beer will push each other on consistently as the championship evolves. “We’re delighted to complete our three car line-up with Jordan and we’re confident he’ll make strong progress during the new season”, said Walkinshaw, “All three drivers obviously have a lot to learn, but we saw last year what rookies like Matty [Graham] and Jack [Barlow] were capable of in an SWR car.“Last season was fantastic for the team, we had a great year with a lot of success and we’ll be pushing as hard as ever to fight for the podium. There are still almost three weeks to go until the opening rounds, so we’ll be making the most of the testing time we still have available.”Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit in Northamptonshire will be the venue for the opening three rounds of the 2014 BRDC Formula 4 Championship over the weekend 26th/27th April. The 24 race season will conclude at Snetterton 300 Circuit in Norfolk at the end of October.
