Lloyd Joins Blancpain Aston Martin Factory Drivers

Sportscar racer Daniel Lloyd will make the switch to endurance competition this year  revealing the first of two very exciting announcements – a partnership with Beechdean Aston Martin Racing to contest selected rounds of the Blancpain Endurance Series.After two highly successful seasons as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar, the 22-year-old is moving his motorsport career onto the international stage in 2014 after confirming he will participate in the Silverstone three-hour race in May and July’s Total 24 Hours of Spa.Piloting an Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 as part of the factory-backed Beechdean squad, for the blue riband Spa encounter Daniel will partner Le Mans 24 Hours podium finisher Stefan Mücke and reigning British GT Champions Andrew Howard [Beechdean team principal] and Jonny Adam. The line-up for the Silverstone race will be confirmed in due course.“Racing with Beechdean at Spa and Silverstone is going to be a massive step-up for my career, joining such a professional factory team is a huge opportunity and teaming-up with Stefan, Jonny and Andrew for the Spa 24 Hours is unbelievable”, said an elated Daniel, “I really can’t thank Andrew and Aston Martin Racing enough for having the faith in me to be part of such a fantastic line-up.“The Aston is a mega car, absolutely awesome, and to be able to benefit from the experience of guys like Stefan and Jonny is priceless for my career development. The dream has always been to race at Le Mans one day, that’s been a goal from day one really, so to have this opportunity to take part in a 24 Hour race like Spa with such a successful team is amazing.”The Huddersfield driver’s first test at the wheel of the 600bhp Aston Martin V12 Vantage will come at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit on Friday, 25th April, with the three-hour Blancpain Endurance Series race then taking place four weeks later on Sunday, 25th May at the Northamptonshire track.“I really can’t wait to get out there in the Aston, it’s going to be mega driving a factory supported car for the first time”, added Daniel, “There has been so much hard work going on behind the scenes to put together our programme for this year, we’ve been flat-out for at least five months.“I am so grateful to all of my current and new sponsors who are making this possible, when the chance to join Beechdean came about we knew it was an opportunity not to be missed.
