The ATS Formula 3 Cup, the most consistent national series, is dedicated to ensure the successful continuity in collaboration with the teams and organisers. For the 2014 season, the Formula 3 Association offers an additional service. Drivers and teams can test and prepare on the racetrack during pre-season tests. The teams were able to prepare for the new season at Lausitzring on Sunday and Monday. Tomorrow and the day after the Formula 3 will continue the tests at Oschersleben. Today, organisers and media representatives met for a media day in the Magdeburger Borde.
The Formula 3 Association has offered the first ever pre-season tests, which started on Sunday. Teams and drivers came together at Lausitzring for a chance to test their cars and themselves under real conditions. In addition, teams and drivers contesting other Formula series like the Formel ADAC have joined in. Indy Dontje will come to Oschersleben tomorrow in order to take the next step in his career. “The pre-season tests are really important for me because I'm a rookie and the more mileage you have with the car the better,” says the ATS Formula 3 Cup newcomer. “Besides, you get to know the team better and you can work on team building. We had three tests already, at Lausitzring, Oschersleben and Nürburgring. All tests went really well and I'm confident with the car and the team.”
German Formula 3 to kick off its 39th season Familiar teams from last year, including ADM Motorsport, Amkon Motorsport, Lotus and Van Amersfoort Racing, will be joined by new teams like JBR Motorsport & Engineering at the track in order to test under true conditions. Sebastian Wittrisch highlighted the quality of the ATS Formula 3 Cup during today's media day. “The German Formula 3 is a logical step for anyone who wants to get to the top, starting from a junior series. Kevin Magnussen is contesting his first Formula 1 season, Rahel Frey will compete in the ADAC GT Masters once again and the top 3 drivers of the 2013 season have made the successful step into the GP3 and GP2,” explains the Head of Organisation.
Save the date: The current champion, Marvin Kirchhöfer, will answer questions from fans at the ATS Formula 3 Cup Facebook page on Sunday, 20th April 2014, starting at 1 pm.
Tests right before the racing weekendsThe Formula 3 Association can provide further opportunities for testing. On certain Thursdays just before the racing weekends in the support programme of the ADAC GT Masters, teams and drivers will get a chance to test under conditions comparable to those of the following days, when they battle for points, without any additional logistical effort. The price ranges from 500 to 850 Euros net. Please register with Guido Wenzel at guido.wenzel@formel3.de.
