Victor Jimenez set the testing pace at ThruxtonMichael Meadows runs second fastestJustin Sherwood and Kelvin Fletcher top Pro-Am1 and Pro-Am2Spanish racer Victor Jimenez achieved a personal milestone at Thruxton today (Wednesday 9 April) when he ended the day fastest after testing for the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. As teams and drivers prepared for the Thruxton race weekend (3/4 May), Jimenez was elated to top the times at the dauntingly fast Hampshire track and stand at the top of Carrera Cup time sheets for the first time.Into second fastest went Michael Meadows (Samsung UHD TV Racing), after his late run on new tyres was thwarted by a red flag. Third fastest was championship newcomer Oscar King (Parr Motorsport), who made a promising debut but unfortunately ended the day by making contact with Steven Liquorish (Team Parker Racing). With Liquorish spinning off, the session was halted with a few minutes left to run.Paul Rees (In2 Racing) ran a strong fourth ahead of Carrera Cup Scholarship racer Josh Webster, while Pro-Am1 pacesetter Justin Sherwood (Team Parker Racing) wrapped up the top six overall. Just outside the top six was former Porsche champion Mark Cole who spent the day running in a new car with the GT Marques team. Despite running on old tyres Cole showed good pace despite having raced only once in more than five years. In Pro-Am2, Kelvin Fletcher (Redline Racing) adapted superbly to a track he had never seen before and ended the day fastest from Liquorish and fellow Thruxton newcomer Peter Kyle-Henney (Parr Motorsport).Victor Jimenez (Redline Racing) fastest overall:“It’s OK, but I don’t believe it! Maybe Michael has more to come but it is good for me to be P1 overall for the first time.”Michael Meadows (Samsung UHD TV Racing) second overall:“I had traffic and then the red flag on my new tyres. We were quick on old tyres and should be quick on new tyres. I’m a bit disappointed, but I think we are OK on pace.”Oscar King (Parr Motorsport) third overall:“I’m so happy with how the day went until the last five minutes. The Carrera Cup is where I want to be and I’ve loved being in the car.”Kelvin Fletcher (Redline Racing) fastest in Pro-Am2:“I’d never seen the track until the start of the first session and there are still areas where I can improve. Here it is just about confidence and I can’t get over how fast it is. But it was great: very hard and very enjoyable.”
