Mundy returns to Porsche Carrera Cup GB

Graeme Mundy will rejoin the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season with In2 Racing. The Salisbury-based racer has done very little racing over the last two season, but the chance to compete at Le Mans is a big factor in his plans to return to the Carrera Cup.

Mundy last raced in the Carrera Cup in 2008 when he finished third in the Pro-Am2 category and tenth overall. He later finished second to Oly Mortimer in the 2011 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge but has not raced regularly since then.

This year the Porsche Carrera Cup GB features a round prior to the world-famous Le Mans 24 Heures on Saturday 14 June, in partnership with the Porsche Carrera Cup France. The 24 hours race itself on 14/15 June sees the return of Porsche to the top category of prototype racing with the 919 Hybrid LMP1.

“I absolutely want to do Le Mans and I’d like to do at least six race weekends this season, starting at Donington Park,” said Mundy. “I’d also love to do the Porsche Supercup race at Silverstone if I get the chance. The new car has certainly leveled the playing field.”

Backing for his campaign comes from Mundy Building and Linden Hire and he will race the car used successfully by Jake Hill during the opening weekend of the season at Brands Hatch. Mundy tested the car at his home track of Thruxton last week and will race the latest Type 991 911 GT3 Cup for the first time at Donington Park over the Easter weekend (19/20 April).
