Team Icer Brakes claimed its maiden win of the season in the Spanish GT championship and the Michelin Endurance Series. Jesus Díez Villarroel and Joséeanuel de los Milagros managed to win their class, D1C, and finish 2nd overall behind the wheel of the Dodge Viper GT3.
Team Icer Brakes has got off to a very encouraging start in the Spanish GT championship and the Michelin Endurance Series, taking place at home for the team, as it was held at the Circuit de Navarra in Los Arcos. The Spanish outfit, entering a Dodge Viper GT3 prepared by Bólido Racing, claimed its maiden victory this season in both championships. Last but not least, Jesus Díez Villarroel and Jose Manuel de los Milagros were second overall in Los Arcos.
On Saturday morning two free practices sessions were held and Díez Villarroel and de los Milagros finished second in D1C class there posting a best lap of 1:45.657, set in the second session and it was a very satisfactory outcome for the qualifying session. De los Milagros, after just three flying laps, qualified second in class with a lap time of 1:44.382, less than a tenth slower than Monlau Porsche on pole position. Team Icer Brakes was also focusing on saving the tires for the race and this aims was achieved as well.
After the ten o´clock the race got underway with Díez Villarroel at the wheel of the American car. Before long, Díez Villarroel took the lead from the Monlau Porsche and, from then on, pulled away from the rest of the field. After their first pit-stop, de los Milagros took over at the wheel of the Dodge Viper GT3 and, after two hours, the Spanish duo ensured their win in the Spanish GT championship classification. As if it was not enough, they were second overall in the Michelin Endurance Series at the end, claiming another win in D1C as well. It was an undoubtedly brilliant start for Team Icer Brakes following an arduous work in winter.
Now the championships head to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where the second round is scheduled on May 17-18.
