Reigning Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series champion Terry Borcheller moved a step closer to taking his first Grand-Am Cup title with his fourth win in as many races in the Mont-Tremblant 250 (SPEED Channel, May 30, Noon ET).

Borcheller took over in the cockpit of the No. 11 Powell Motorsport CadillacCTS-V from co-driver Devon Powell on Lap 55 - which was first at the time ofthe stop - and took the lead for the final time from the No. 91 DoncasterRacing Porsche 996 of Canadians Greg Wilkens and Bobby Julien when the No.91 made its last pit stop of the day. Borcheller finished 9.456 secondsahead of Julien, with the Rehagen Racing No. 58 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT ofDavid Shep and Kenny Wilden in third.

"The team did a great job and Devon did an awesome opening stint, orstint-and-a-half, or two, or whatever he did - he did a bunch," Borchellersaid. "The race just came to us. The Cadillac has a lot of characteristicsof the cars I've driven in the past. I've got a ton of seat time with streetstock tires and street-type cars. I attribute (the) Bondurant (School ofHigh Performance Driving) for my street stock experience and my ability toget in just about anything and go fast."

The victory moved Borcheller into a huge lead in the Grand-Am Cup SeriesGrand Sport (GS) championship standings after Round 4 of 10. With 140points, Borcheller stands alone atop the points table.

While many of the championship leaders stumbled at Mont-Tremblant, Powellwas another driver to gain several positions in the point standings withtoday's victory.

"It's fantastic," Powell said. "The team did such a great job. They workedso hard on these cars. I love it for them, for Sunoco, Chemcraft andRockland Standard Gear. Our Cadillac CTS-V was super all day. Terry did sucha fantastic job, and I'm glad we can continue his winning streak. I'm happyto be back in victory lane."

In the Sport Touring (ST) division, Ian James and Chuck Goldsborough pickedup their first win of the season in the No. 2 Team Lexus IS300, while theNo. 95 Turner Motorsport BMW 330i in the hands of Will Turner and Don Salamatook its third straight second-place finish. The No. 27 Bill FentonMotorsports Acura RSX-S was third.

"It's the first win for Lexus this year," James said. "It's a greatachievement. We've one at least one a year since we started this program.It's nice to have a win early in the year. Chuck, my teammate, did great inthe early stint. It was nice to fight it out in the end for the first win."

"It's great to win at one of my favorite tracks in North America,"Goldsborough added. "I didn't think we had anything for the Mazdas. We didnot have anything for the Mazdas so we decided to run our own race with ourown strategies. My game plan was to stay at front. I managed to get fromsixth to second right away. I stayed in second for the first hour, and I didnot want to race the winner. I wasn't going to race the winner. If anyonewanted to come up, I wasn't going to race them. I was conserving the tiresand the fuel mileage. Our only chance was to go an hour and a half, and makeone stop at the half-way point. If we didn't do that, I knew we couldn't doit. By doing that and running our own race, we went an hour and 37 minutes.That's how we beat the BMW and the Mazda by simply running our own race andnot battling any one else. I'll take it."

The runner-up performance enabled Turner and Salama to extend their lead inthe ST standings after four of 12 races.

"Three races in a row in second," Turner said. "I guess always a bridesmaid.We still have stuff to learn about the series. It's a great race, a greattrack. The BMWs don't get as good of fuel mileage as the Acuras. We're stillhappy to still be leading the championship."
