John Bryant-Meisner aiming for top half finish as F3 season opener begins

ADD Motorsports driver John Bryant-Meisner is totally focused with the start of the new FIA Formula 3 European Championship season finally here.

After completing his official tests last week, the 19-year-old was happy with the progress he and Fortec Motorsports made.

And with the excitement building upto the Silverstone opener, he can’t wait to get back in the car to get a better idea of how the championship might pan out.

He said: “It was really good to get back in a car. It was the first time for about five months, so we knew it would be a little slow to start with – especially as a lot of the other drivers have been testing already.

“But as the time went on we got better and I’m now starting to get a bit excited about the start of the season.

“I want to get points and hopefully podiums and be at the right end as quickly as possible.

“I’m excited to see what happens in the first qualifier, as that will tell me a lot more about where we are.”

The Swedish racer, who joined Fortec Motorsports at the back end of last season, spent two days at the Hungaroring in Hungary and two days at the Red Bull Ring in Austria for the official tests.

The most important thing in Hungary was making adjustments to the car, so overall finishes of 19th and 20th were not seen as important.

Things moved on in Austria, with John having the opportunity to chase his lap times and he was satisfied with 13th place finishes overall.

He said: “We knew it was going to be tough. We spent a lot of the first test getting used to the electronics and the car and it took me a while to get used to it.

“But it was lots better in Austria. I could feel the difference in the car in the first session as the team had spent a few days working on it.

“By the end of the first day and into the second I was able to chase my lap times and it was pretty good.”

Now John goes into the first race at Silverstone full of confidence and excited about the season ahead.

He added: “I’m not nervous yet, I’m sure that will come nearer the start of the race.

“The tests can’t really show you too much about how the season will go, so I’m excited to see where I can be after the first qualifier.

“I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can and hopefully getting some points as quickly as possible.

“And I’m just looking forward to racing in a car again – it feels like it has been ages.”
