Stuttgart Cup, Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA Race Together

for the First Time this Weekend in The Mitty at Road Atlanta

Friday Night’s Featured Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 Challenge First On-Track Event in New Competition PartnershipThe Stuttgart Cup and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo series will compete together for the first time this weekend in the inaugural event of a new competition partnership that debuts at The Classic Motorsports Magazine Mitty presented by Hagerty at Road Atlanta, May 25 - 27.The announcement of the two Porsche-based championships combining operations was made last month after the series first raced together in February's HSR Palm Beach Grand Prix at Palm Beach International Raceway. The Mitty will be the official on-track debut of the new collaboration and has attracted a solid field of both the Stuttgart Cup and Mission GT3 and competitors.A highlight of the popular Mitty weekend will be Friday night’s Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 Challenge that will see both divisions race at the same time for individual class honors with a 6:35 p.m. EDT start time.In just its second-year of operation, the Stuttgart Cup is North America’s only racing series that is home exclusively to Porsche Caymans and Boxsters. Mission Foods GT3 has been racing at classic and historic events for the last several seasons and is home to Porsche’s 911-based GT3, RS/RSR and “Cup” cars from 2000 and newer.The Mitty is the kick-off event a recently expanded eight-race 2014 schedule for both series. The Road Atlanta weekend will be followed by races at Autobahn Country Club outside of Chicago, June 6 – 7, Pocono Raceway, August 14 – 17, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, September 19 - 21 and one additional event in July that will be announced in the coming days. The eight-race schedule also includes what have become traditional season-ending races at Savannah Hutchinson Island, Daytona International Speedway and Sebring International Raceway in October, November and December, respectively.This weekend is also the conclusion of the Stuttgart Cup's first Winter Series that began late last year with the Savannah, Daytona and Sebring stretch and picked up again at Palm Beach in February. The Mitty is the fifth and final Winter Series round and Joe Sullivan, who races his No. 14 Al Holbert Racing/Lowenbrau liveried Cayman S, is just one point ahead of Bill Riddell, 151 - 150. Riddell races his No. 05 Cayman S that carries the black and white striped theme of the prototype Porsche 918 Spyder.Third in points heading to The Mitty is Keith Faver who races a No. 25 Cayman S carrying a theme inspired by the mighty Gulf/Wyer Porsche 917s. Faver's teammate Jim Gray will be debuting a new Martini Racing-inspired livery on his renumbered No. 111 Cayman S.Another debut will come from first-time series driver Rodrigo Sales who will race the No. 225 Cayman S that pays tribute to the memorable Jagermeister-sponsored Porsches.Lori Cassling also returns the The Stuttgart Cup with her popular No. 23 "Pink Pig" Cayman S that carries the same bright pink scheme of the famous Porsche 917/20 that raced at Le Mans in 1971.The Boxster contingent will be led by multi-race winner Paul Reisman who will drive his dark blue No. 70 Boxster.Both the Stuttgart Cup and Mission Foods GT3 were on track at The Mitty today for a Thursday test session. The official schedule of practice, qualifying and sprint and enduro races runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday.About: Both The Stuttgart Cup and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo are managed by Americas Cup GT L.L.C. Both championships are sprint and endurance series with The Stuttgart Cup™ open to all Porsche Caymans and Boxsters and Mission Foods GT3 open to all 2000 and later Porsche 911 GT3s and related models. Rules for both series are centered on power to weight ratio. All competing Stuttgart Cup cars must compete with stock make and model engine and transmissions with approved allowances for exhaust and intake modifications. Stuttgart Cup organizers also welcome all competitors with existing race-prepared Caymans or Boxsters to compete with body and engine modifications balanced within series power to weight ratio parameters. All such competitors will not be eligible for championship points or class-designated race wins, but the door is always open to all Cayman and Boxster competitors to get in on the action.
