Juan Lopez-Santini and Bill Riddell Win in Friday Night’s Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 Challenge in The Mitty at Road AtlantaFirst Official Race Together for The Stuttgart Cup and Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA Sets Competitive Tone for The Classic Motorsports Magazine MittyThe Stuttgart Cup and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo series raced off to a competitive start Friday in The Mitty at Road Atlanta where Juan Lopez-Santini and Bill Riddell won respective class honors in the featured Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 Challenge.The twilight sprint, the first time the Cayman and Boxster Stuttgart Cup series and the Porsche GT3 focused Mission Foods championships officially raced together, lived up to expectations as both overall winner Lopez-Santini and Riddell edged their respective class pole winners for the victories.Lopez-Santini, driving the No. 810 Porsche GT3 Cup, led Mission Foods pole-winner Frank Beck and his No. 25 Porsche GT3 Cup across the line for the overall and class victory while Riddell passed both Stuttgart Cup pole-winner Matt Dicken and outside-front-row starter Keith Faver.Beck earned class and overall runner-up honors and Marius Avemarg finished third both overall and in Mission Foods GT3 in his No. 027 Porsche GT3 Cup.Juan Gonzalez, in his No. 80 Porsche GT3 Cup, and Jeffrey Freeman, in the No. 161 Porsche GT3 Cup, respectively completed the Mission Foods GT3 and overall top five. Riddell, driving his flat-black No. 05 Cayman S carrying the livery of the prototype Porsche 918 Spyder, was the only Cayman competitor to crack the top-10 overall behind a solid field of GT3 Cup and RSR Porsches.Dicken was right behind in second, 11th overall in his silver and black No. 207 Cayman S, while Faver, racing a Gulf/Wyer Porsche 917-themed No. 25 Cayman S, finished third in Stuttgart Cup.The win was a great start to The Mitty for Riddell in a race weekend that is the finale of the five-event 2013/2014 Stuttgart Cup Winter Series and the start of this year’s eight race Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 season.Riddell came to Road Atlanta just one point out of the Stuttgart Cup Winter Series championship lead behind Joe Sullivan who finished fifth Friday in his No. 14 Cayman S that carries the colors of the Lowenbrau/Holbert Racing Porsche 962s.Debuting driver Rodrigo Sales finished a solid fourth in his first Stuttgart Cup race at the wheel of his No. 225 Jagermeister-adorned Cayman S.Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 racing continues Saturday and Sunday at The Mitty with a full schedule of sprint and enduro races.
