GP Racing triumphant in Estoril
After victory in the season opener Brno, all eyes were set on GP Racing and Fabrizio Del Monte - the pressure was good for the Venetian team and the Roman driver who cut the finish line in 1st place again.
GP Racing was also satisfied with Maxime Hodencq’s and Tor Graves’ results - the young Belgian took fifth, his best result ever in this category while Tor Graves finished the race in eighth place - a very encouraging result for the English driver who made a disappointing debut in Brno (he went off track on lap 3).
Tancredi Pagiaro, Team Manager
“I’m obviously very happy about how things turned out in Portugal. Fabrizio started off well and conquered the 2nd position. He never let Auinger out of his sight and always kept Pastorelli under control. With only a few laps left to go, Fabrizio managed to take advantage of Auinger’s mistake even if the race was exhausting. He was very fast, made no mistakes and thus deserved this second victory. Maxime also finished a very good race. The last few laps were excruciating for him because they were so physically demanding (Hodencq is only 17 years old) and yet, Maxime keep his calm, won over Ippoliti and got a very worthy 5th place. I’m happy about Tor who finished in 8th place. If it hadn’t been for the incident he had with his opponent that sent him off in a spin, he would have been in the top six!”
Fabrizio Del Monte
“To win two races out of 2 is incredible for me but I think I deserved it. It was a very difficult race but I never had any doubt about conquering the podium. This victory awards my team and I for all of the hard work done this weekend. I’m definitely ready to make it three in a row at the next round!”
Maxime Hodencq
“It was an exhausting race but it was worth it. I fought against Ippoliti throughout the whole race and at the end, I conquered the 5th place. This is my best result ever in this category. I now have to work hard to improve my physical condition.”
Tor Graves
“I’m happy that I reached the finish line but I’m a little disappointed about the contact I had with one of my adversaries that made me spin. Had it not been for this incident, I could have fought for the sixth place.”
