Sini and Kosta share Vallelunga EuroV8Series wins

BALDAN (MERCEDES), MERCATALI (BMW) COMPLETE RACE 1 PODIUM. STANCHERIS, DIONISIO HAND AUDI AN 1-2-3 FINISH IN RACE 1

The second round of the 2014 EUROV8SERIES provided plenty of exciting action at Vallelunga. After the double win by Mercedes at Monza, two new brands hit the top of the podium. Lining up on the Solaris Motorsport-prepared Chevrolet Camaro, Francesco Sini prevailed in Race 1 while Czech racer Tomas Kostka led an Audi Sport Italia hat-trick in the afternoon.

Sini saw his chances for victory increase lap-by-lap in Race 1. The Chevy-powered driver took full advantage of a drive-through penalty assessed to Kostka for causing an incident at the start. Driving his Audi RS5, Kostka cut off the BMW M3 of Max Mugelli at the start, and the Tuscan went off-track, rolling several times in a spectacular crash. Luckily, no physical damage was to report.

Sini, who was holding second place steadily, moved to the front and never looked back. Ending up in second was the Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé of Nicola Baldan (R.R.T.) and the Team Dinamic BMW M3 of Niccolò Mercatali. Fellow Team Dinamic racer Maurizio Copetti took fourth in front of Davide Stancheris (Audi RS5) and Diego Romanini (Mercedes C63 AMG).

In Race 2, Audi completed a stunning hat-trick that came at the end of a top-class battle. Their three cars battled their way with several position changes over the closing laps, and in the end Kostka prevailed on Stancheris and Ermanno Dionisio. The top-5 was rounded out by Mercatali and Francesco Ascani (BMW M3 E90).

Thanks to his Race 1 win and a 6th-place finish in Race 2, Sini leads in standings with 69 points. Kostka is holding second place (64) in front of Stancheris (54).

The next round will be on May 17 and 18 maggio at Mugello.
