ADD Motorsports driver John Bryant-Meisner had a weekend he’d rather forget in the second round of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.
After securing his first point at Silverstone in the first round, the Swedish racer was left frustrated after more than his fair share of bad luck at Hockenheim.
He was forced into a wing change in two similar incidents in Race 1 and 3, effectively ending both races early.
But after recording some really fast lap times, he is confident of putting it right next weekend at Pau.
He said: “I’m sure next week will be better, it can’t be any worse.
“It was one of those weekends where we had so much bad luck that everything that could go wrong seemed to go wrong.
“Some of our lap times were quick enough to be Top 6 – it’s about the only thing to take away from the weekend and something to focus on for the next round.”
John was really quick in practice. He then qualified in 9th, 14th and 12th with the car feeling better than the previous round thanks to some improvements made by Fortec.
But Race 1 got off to the worst possible start when he went into the back of the driver in front of him after he slowed down sharply at the hairpin. His front wing was badly damaged – and he was forced to go in to change, leaving him in last place by the end of the race.
The 19-year-old felt Race 2 was much better, but problems with his brake and grip left him unable to really get going and a 13th place finish was as good as he could get.
The racer got off to a great start in Race 3, but he and two other drivers touched on the first corner and he was left with another collapsed wing that forced him to go in to change once more.
He finished 19th, but some brilliant lap times at least gave him something positive to take away from the weekend.
He added: “It was really frustrating, but these things happen and we have to move on.
“We were really quick, that was the thing to take away from the weekend. The car felt much better and the general pace was much better. We are up there on lap times.
“There’s just a few days until Pau and it’s a case of trying to get used to the track as quickly as possible and then trying to get some more points.
“I’m looking forward to getting back out there.”
