Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS will be back in Pau after two years having raced in the French street circuit in 2011 and 2012. The Fast Lane Promotion Series will be racing this weekend (9/11 May), on the charming historic circuit for its second out of seven Season’s venues.
In Imola, just more than a month ago, it was the Dutch Nyck de Vries the undisputed ruler. The McLaren Young Driver Programme driver racing with Koiranen GP managed pole and both wins. He is the current leader and for sure to one to look after in France.
Surprises are awaited thug between the guard-rails and pavements. It might than be the turn of Simon Gachet, at ease in the Santerno track. The French, racing for the second consecutive season with Arta Engineering, scored his first podium being twice third and second overall in the championship with a 14 points gap over de Vries.
Watch out for George Russell, him too with Koiranen GP. The English, class 1998, is third overall. Among the novelties in Pau to be pointed out the debut of the Russian Matevos Isaakyan, who turned sixteen only few days ago, and will be behind the wheel of one of the cars of JD Motorsport.
Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS is once more ready fora n International lineup with up to 17 different countries represented and with 11 teams. Among these there will be Tech 1 Racing. For the French team, three times winner in the narrow 2760 meters track close to the Pyrenees, the Pau event will be its home race. For the occasion it will line up the Canadian Luke Chudleigh, the Swiss Hugo De Sadeleer, the Indonesian Philo Paz Patric Armand and the Malaysian Akash Nandy.
The schedule will foresee free practices on Friday. Starting from 9.45am on Saturday the qualify while in the afternoon, at 16.40, there will be the Race 1 green light. The race will be held on the usual distance of 25’ plus a lap as Race 2 which is set for Sunday morning at 9.47am. Qualify and races will be live streamed on www.renaultsportitalia.it.
