P1 JOHNNY CECOTTO
Race 1 commenced with a great start by Johnny who, from the 16th position reached up to P7. The pace was always great and for several laps Cecotto's car was the fastest on the track gaining ground that allowed him to have sufficient car distance from those that followed him in order to carry out the pit stop after 27 laps without losing the leadership of the Race. The Feature race closed in this way with the winner being Johnny with almost 4 seconds ahead of the second place position.

DRIVER's QUOTE:
"An incredible race!!! To win a race in GP2 starting from P16 in normal conditions is amazing. The car was fantastic with a great pace and very little tyre degradation. I had a great start and I closed the first lap in P6, which was the foundation for the victory. Than we drove a very consistent quick pace until 10 laps to the end when we came in for the pitstop for our option tires. At that point I had to defend for half a lap from Nasr because of the cold tires and than I went on to catch and overtake Palmer which gave me the lead of the race. Than I just had to manage the gap to the end of the race. Thank you very much Trident!!!"
SERGIO CANAMASAS
Sergio's race, that took off from the 20th position, did not begin in the best of ways given that the engine stalled and he had to start from the pit lane. The safety car in the 2nd lap allowed him to line up with the rest of the group of other cars and restart with his race. The pace of the race was very good above all with the hard set of tires put on during the second half of the Race. Sergio closed the Feature race in the 18th position accumulating kilometers of experiece and above all information to better adapt to the set up of the car and his driving style.

DRIVER's QUOTE:
"I came back to the track with a GP2 car after being still for a long time and I had to quickly face a lot of new things, like the adjustment to the work of a new team in addition to the management of new Pirelli tires which I had never tried before. This is therefore not the best condition to face the home Grand Prix, which I value a lot and where I have not obtained a great result but I am in any case very happy because I know that we have great potential and we have a lot of room for improvement. The feeling with the car wasn't always perfect because with tires soft compound the car slipped a lot, while I found a better condition with the hard compound where I felt the car surely a lot more stable and constant. I now turn to tomorrow's race where we will carry out a few improvement modifications where we learned a lot today and I am sure I will have more satisfactions"
