John Bryant-Meisner happy to put more points on the F3 board

as he finishes on a high in Pau

ADD Motorsports driver John Bryant-Meisner was delighted to pick up some more points in the third round of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.

The Swedish racer was in good form with a 12th, 11th and eighth place finish across the three races in Pau.

And it could have been an even better weekend if a crash in front of him during Race two hadn’t prevented him from a sixth place position.

But after finishing the last race on a high, he was pleased with the progress he is making with Fortec.

He said: “I’m happy to get some more points, we are showing our speed and improving. The car feels better all the time. It’s a good sign.

“I would have liked to get some more points and know I could have, so that was the most frustrating aspect of the weekend.

“It was a really cool place to be, a really nice street track. But it’s generally tough, as one mistake and you’re in a wall.

“All in all, we’re happy with the way we are going.”

With the qualifying races split in two, John qualified for the first race in 7th in his group – 13th overall.

The 19-year-old started Race 1 in 13th and in a slow race where overtaking was all but impossible, moved up a place by the end to finish 12th.

John qualified in fifth for the second and third qualifiers, meaning he started both Sunday races in ninth place.

Race two began in the rain and with a safety car, but John was up to eighth early on although found he was struggling for speed.

But with three laps to go he was catching up with the drivers in front, until a crash in front of him stopped him in his tracks.

He was forced to reverse to get round them, so was happy with an 11th place finish at the end, although disappointed not to have secured the points he probably deserved.

Race three was another improvement. Starting in ninth, John was soon up to eighth and stayed there for the remainder of the race.

He added: “I really like the street tracks, they have a different charm. But it was really difficult to overtake, so it was pretty much a case of where you were on the first corner was where you would finish.

“It was a good weekend overall, I think I could have finished higher in one race and done a bit better in the first qualifier, but we were really fast which is a good thing and we are going in the right direction.

“It’s a good place to finish for the next race.”
