Robbie Coleman will contest rounds nine and ten of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Mondello Park (12/13 June). The Irish single-seater ace will race the VIP car entered by Porsche Cars GB in the pair of races at his home track. Coleman, son of legendary rally ace Billy, has not raced in 2004 but is working on stepping up to Formula 3 later in the season. In the meantime, he will have his first races out of single-seaters in front of his home crowd at Mondello."I can't wait," says Robbie. "I'm not too sure what to expect and I've never come across 390bhp before. Anything other than a single-seater is unknown to me, but I'll certainly give it a go!"Having won the Formula Ireland title and finished fifth in the 2000 Formula Ford Festival, Robbie has since struggled to raise the finance to continue his single-seater career. Last year he contested a part-season in the European Formula BMW series, claiming two podium finishes. The 22-year old has spent recent months working on the family farm in Cork and studying towards a degree in biomedical and advanced material science at Limerick. "I've not raced since last August and I've been absolutely dying to get back out."There is, however, Porsche competition history in the family as Billy rallied a 911 extensively across Europe during his hugely successful career. "Perhaps he can give me some advice," says Robbie.
