(SPEEDWAY 1 – WEDNESDAY PREVIEW)
THIRD-PLACED Poole hope to gain ground on Elite League leaders Lakeside when the sides meet at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.Former World Champion Chris Holder is set to make his final appearance for the Pirates having agreed a short-term deal to stand in for injured countryman Darcy Ward. And home promoter Matt Ford is also expecting an interesting clash at reserve, where the Hammers track Adam Ellis who guested for the Pirates in last Wednesday’s win over Belle Vue.Ford said: “It will be good to have Kyle (Newman) back for us, and there will be some irony about Adam Ellis being on the opposite side of the pits on Wednesday after ably standing in for Kyle last week. “I was impressed with Adam's performance for us and it will be an intriguing contest to see how he races against us this time.”Meanwhile Swindon visit second-placed King’s Lynn, with Robins boss Alun Rossiter keen to banish the memories of his team’s late collapse at Wolverhampton on Monday.Rossiter said: “This is a chance for the boys to bounce back quickly and show what they are made of. Hopefully we can push King's Lynn, who are a great side on their own track but if my riders perform like I know they can then we can be a threat.“It's onwards and upwards from here. We can't afford to dwell on what might have been at Wolverhampton, we just have to look forward to tonight.”The Stars have booked Scott Nicholls to guest for broken collarbone victim Kenneth Bjerre as they look to extend their 100 per cent home record.Manager Rob Lyon said: “Scott is a quality rider who always gives it his all. He has performed well at King’s Lynn before and has been in good form for Belle Vue.”

EASTBOURNE boss Trevor Geer says points away from Arlington are high on his list of priorities for the next month. The Eagles visit Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton and Belle Vue in the coming weeks and Geer wants to see an improvement in results as they went through the whole 2013 season without a win on their travels. He said: “We need to transfer our home form into what we do on away tracks. We have gone far too long without a win on the road. The tracks we are going to in the next few weeks are ones where we should do well and we need to get something out of these meetings.“There are still plenty of meetings to go, so it is not make or break for us. However, I do want to get this run of away defeats off our backs.”
(SPEEDWAY 3)
SCUNTHORPE have been forced into a change of plan regarding the signing of Nicolai Klindt – who will now make his Scorpions debut at home to Glasgow on Friday.Klindt was due to line up in the KO Cup tie at Peterborough on Tuesday, but with that meeting rained-off promoter Rob Godfrey has reverted to his previous line-up as Klindt is involved in the Danish Final when the Scorpions travel to Sheffield on Thursday, enabling him to book Sam Masters as a guest.Godfrey said: “It’s all above board and legal. We had to act quickly as soon as the meeting at Peterborough was called off, so not only could we use a facility for Anders (Mellgren) on Thursday, but also get Nicolai back in for Friday.“It’s a fairly unique set of circumstances. Nicolai missed two meetings he was supposed to ride in due to rain-offs, then received a call-up to the Danish championship which means he has to miss the third, which has now become the first. Once upon a time, we would have been forced to use a National League junior on Thursday, but that would be cheating the paying public, who want to see two full-strength sides.”
